TOY & BOOK SALE Saturday, December 4th 11:30am-2pm

We are doing it again! Last year’s gently used toy and book sale was such a great success we’ve decided to run it again right before the holidays. It’s a great opportunity to clean out the closets and bookshelves and get a bit of early holiday shopping done…and raise money for the school.

When: Saturday, December 4th 11:30am-2pm

Where: Mar Vista School (It is Open Saturday at the school)

How: Reserve your spot today!  Clean out your toy boxes and bookshelves! Bring your gently used toys and books to this Green Dolphins Sale, and you can finally get rid of them!  Stay and shop from other parents and take home a ‘new’ item for your child.

Bring your own large blanket for setting up your own toys/books.  You will be working your own ‘station’.  This will be like a mini swap meet.

Cost to participate – $5 / station.    All proceeds go to the Green Dolphins programs that make MV school a better place!

You price your own toys/books for sale, but maximum sale price is $10 .

All proceeds are yours – voluntary donations to the Green Dolphins will be accepted.

You take home your leftovers!

– Age limit range for toys and books – up to age 12.

Toys should be clean and in working condition.  No broken parts please.

Battery-required toys should be turned on and working.

Reserve your spot with Annette  – acos68@yahoo.com or Cerentha – cerentha@mac.com

Zero Trash Lunch Posters

We announced the winners of the Zero Trash Lunch Posters Exhibition this morning at assembly to much fanfare. All of the participants did a great job explaining what a zero trash lunch was and why it’s so important to pack one. I’ll put up the complete list of awardees tomorrow. Just wanted to get this slideshow up today. Look at all this beautiful work! Mar Vista students have outdone themselves.

And thank you to Maggie Storm for taking these photographs of the posters.

Mr Miceli Asks for Your Recyclables

Dear parents of Mar Vista Elementary School,

This school year is shaping up to be Mar Vista’s most creative yet! The new art room is a great addition to your child’s daily activities, and will help to broaden their minds and understanding of the world of art.

In coordination with the Green Dolphins organization, I’m inquiring to see if parents would like to donate some “recyclable” supplies to the Visual Arts classroom. Donating any of these items in any amount will be greatly appreciated!

These items will be in the form of recyclable materials that can be re-used in art projects or storage. You can place any of these items outside the Art Room (Room 36) in any of the cardboard boxes labeled “Recycled Items”.

If you feel that you have something that is not on this list, don’t be afraid to bring it by anyway, or e-mail me about it, I’m always coming up with new project ideas. *Please make sure that any items that previously contained food have been cleaned thoroughly.

Thank you very much for your help and donations!

Mr. Miceli

Possible items (but are not limited to):

Egg cartons

Magazines, books

Used pencils, crayons

Yarn or string

Plastic containers of any size

Wrapping paper, wallpaper, fabric

Nature items: sticks, leaves, flowers, rocks, in good condition

Cardboard boxes, shoeboxes
